Example 1: Case where a group selling large numbers of counterfeit toner cartridges of many brands was exposed

At a large online shopping mall in China, a store was found selling large amounts of toner cartridges of member companies of JBMIA. The subsequent investigation confirmed that the counterfeits had been supplied to the store from an individual who was a member of a group based in Guangzhou that sold counterfeit toner cartridges of brands of several member companies of JBMIA.

In January 2022, JBMIA requested the Guangzhou City Public Security Bureau to take actions, and the group's base was successfully uncovered.

As a result, 3,439 counterfeit toner cartridges of 5 brands (Kyocera, Ricoh, Sharp, Konica Minolta, and Fuji Xerox) were confiscated, and the principal offender was arrested. The People’s Court of Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province sentenced the principal offender to 2 years in prison with a 3-year suspended sentence, a fine of 120,000 yuan, and forfeiture of illegal income of 120,000 yuan paid to the public prosecution organization.
